This annual herb is difficult to find and identify unless in flower, with peak flowering occurring in mid-December for subpopulations in the south of the State and February for subpopulations in the northeast.
In Tasmania, Euphrasia scabra occurs in moist herb/sedge communities in grassy leads in marshes or in drier open grassy areas on hills at the headwaters of creeks. Its habitat is associated with gaps created by grazing, flooding or other disturbance.
